Yesterday was rest. All day, rest.
Today, I went to visit Augusta University Healthcare Transplant Center and visited with the most caring doctor I ever had, Dr. Carlos Zayas. Dr. Zayas was my doctor at Emory Hospital and later at Piedmont Healthcare. He was there for me when my dad’s kidney failed, when I was on dialysis for a year and when my brother donated his kidney to me.
Part of the reason Dr. Zayas and I met, was to do a story for WJBF with the help of Chris Curry at Augusta University. Wes Cooper did the story.
With a little over a week to go in Stage One, my emotions are all over the place. Can I keep this up? Am I actually helping? Was this worth it? Is it worth finishing? I, of course, believe yes, but those questions creep in there.
Three scoot days ahead to Washington, Athens and then Camp Twin Lakes where I take another break.
Until then….
